The members of SigEp volunteer several hours of community service every year to countless organizations. Below is some information about what we do for Philanthropy.
Sigma Phi Epsilon has helped out with and walked in the Walk MS event in Platteville. We have acted as crossing guards, helped decorate, and maintained rest stops. Since a couple of our brothers have personally been affected by MS, this event is particularly special to us.
Scouts with Special Needs / Brat Fest
Each Memorial Day weekend we put in numerous hours grilling thousands of brats, cooking thousands of ears of corn, and maintaining the condiment tent. This huge festival attracts many people to support the many needs that various groups are working for. SigEp works to raise money for Scouts with Special Needs and the Balanced Man Scholarships given out to incoming freshmen.
Family Advocates, Inc.
Family Advocates is a non-profit organization serving victims and survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault in Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties. All services are free and confidential, which include emergency shelter for women and children, one-on-one peer counseling, support groups, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, prevention, intervention, education, and awareness.
For the past few years, we have organized and cooked a Christmas Dinner for the children of Family Advocates with the help of Zeta Beta Chi Sorority. We usually donate money to help them buy gifts for the children as well. We have also done other outreach events with Family Advocates, such as a kickball event on campus with them in conjunction with our Balanced Man Scholarship events. Every chance we get to brighten their days is ten times more rewarding for us!
